NewsReport is a magazine featuring activities of the National Academies, which serve as independent advisers to the federal government on scientific and technical questions of national importance. The National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine are self-perpetuating, honorific societies of distinguished scientists, engineers, and medical professionals. The National Research Council is jointly administered by the NAS and NAE, and along with the IOM brings the resources of the entire scientific and technical community to bear on national problems through its volunteer advisory committees.
NewsReport (ISSN 0027-8432) was prepared by the National Academies' Office of News and Public Information, but is no longer published.
Back issues and back volumes can be ordered in microform from ProQuest Information and Learning, 300 North Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48106.
The National Academies' new magazine, In Focus, is available online. Please e-mail questions or comments about NewsReport or In Focus to Sara Frueh.
