New NSF Prize Program Could Spur Innovation

January 23 -- The National Science Foundation should create an "inducement prize" program, eventually offering opportunities to vie for prizes of several million dollars, to reward scholars or other experts for finding novel solutions to scientific or technical problems, says a new National Research Council report. Such a program could help strengthen innovation in the United States.
