How do stereotypes affect the health and independence of aging adults and those with disabilities? How do they impact the industries that interact with these populations? And what are some opportunities to disrupt the narrative and change perceptions of what it means to be older or have a disability?
This Proceedings of a Workshop summarizes the presentations from a workshop sponsored by AARP and hosted by the Forum on Aging, Disability, and Independence. Panelists spoke at The New School’s Parsons School of Design. Working in fields ranging from the sciences to business to fashion design to film and television, presenters discussed topics including the science of disrupting stereotypes in everyday life, strategies that may change public discourse, and more.
