    On November 28, 2017, the Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity will host a one-day public workshop entitled Immigration as a Social Determinant of Health. The workshop will feature speaker presentations and discussions on laws and policies and their implications on immigrant and population health.

  • Affordable and Accessible Housing for Vulnerable Older Adults and People with Disabilities Living in the Community: A Workshop Date: December 12, 2016 (8:30 AM Eastern)

    Accessible, affordable housing can be a platform for enabling community living, maximizing independence, and promoting positive health outcomes for vulnerable populations. The affordability and availability of this housing, however, is often a major barrier. This one-day public workshop will explore the role of housing as a social determinant of health for older adults and people with disabilities, particularly among people of color and low income groups.

  • The Private Sector as a Catalyst for Health Equity and a Vibrant Economy Date: November 5, 2015 (8:30 AM Central)

    The workshop will focus on the economic case for promoting health equity. Thriving businesses benefit from health equity values and goals. Additionally, the larger society benefits due to improved community health and the improved health of the local economy. The workshop include several panels of speakers that will explore ways to enable a “first of its kind” dialogue that showcases the shared values and visions of health equity-promoting strategies of researchers, health equity experts, and business sectors. Showcasing the impact of health equity-promoting initiatives will help to build bridges across sectors in order to foster additional large scale collaborative health equity efforts.

    The Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity and the Elimination of Health Disparities will hold its fifteenth workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This one-day public workshop will explore the challenges and opportunities facing Native American Youth today and how these challenges and opportunities affect health outcomes for these youth.
