  • Neurotechnology and Society: Strengthening Responsible Innovation in Brain Science - A Workshop Date: September 15, 2016 - September 16, 2016 (9:00 AM Eastern)

Emerging neurotechnologies have the potential to enhance human lives, offering better health outcomes and higher quality of life through the prevention and treatment of mental illness and neurological disease. But the scientific advances that have given rise to these new technologies raise a host of ethical, legal, and social issues. There appears to be broad international agreement that integrating societal considerations into neuroscience research—including large-scale brain initiatives—is important. However, there is great diversity in how that is being approached and, to date, there have been only limited opportunities to learn from experiences and findings across initiatives and jurisdictions. On September 15 and 16, 2016, the OECD will host a workshop on Neurotechnology and Society: Strengthening Responsible Innovation in Brain Science, in collaboration with the Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous System Disorders and other organizations.
