Nominations Open for the 2010 Lienhard Award and Sarnat Prize

The IOM is now accepting nominations for the Gustav O. Lienhard Award and the Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health. The Lienhard Award recognizes individuals for outstanding achievement in improving health care services in the United States. The Sarnat Prize recognizes individuals, groups, or organizations for outstanding achievement in improving mental health. Nominations will be accepted through May 7, 2010.

Sociologist David Mechanic receives Institute of Medicine's 2009 Sarnat Prize in Mental Health
Released: 10/12/2009

The Institute of Medicine awarded the 2009 Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health to David Mechanic, University Professor and René Dubos Professor of Behavioral Sciences; and director, Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. The Sarnat Prize, consisting of a medal and $20,000, was presented to Mechanic at IOM's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
