The third meeting of the Committee to Review the Health Effects in Vietnam Veterans of Exposure to Herbicides will be held on March 9-11, at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort located at 3800 West Starr Pass Boulevard in Tucson, Arizona.

The first day of the meeting will consist of a half day open session and a half day closed session. On the second and third day, the committee will meet in closed session. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) announces a public meeting for a candid discussion about health effects in veterans associated with the herbicides sprayed during the Vietnam War. The report from this committee will be provided to the Department of Veterans Affairs to help advise officials on policy decisions regarding compensation to veterans for service-related illnesses.

The primary purpose of this meeting is to hear from Vietnam veterans about their health concerns. All Vietnam veterans or other interested parties are welcome, and anyone wishing to share a personal experience with the committee may reserve a time on the agenda or submit a written statement.

This conversation will inform the IOM’s Committee to Review the Health Effects in Vietnam of Exposure to Herbicides (Tenth Biennial Update) in its review of the scientific evidence regarding the link between exposure to the herbicides used in Vietnam and adverse health outcomes.
