Catherine Kwik-Uribe, Ph.D.
Catherine Kwik-Uribe is global director of health and nutrition at Mars, Incorporated. Dr. Kwik-Uribe joined Mars, Incorporated in 2002. Since joining Mars, she has managed various aspects of a research program focused on the phytonutrients in cocoa, a class of compounds collectively known as cocoa flavanols. As a leader of this program, she has taken a multi-disciplinary research approach to understand the role that these compounds can have in supporting human health, with her research spanning from the development of validated analytical methods to human dietary invention trials. Much of her research focus in recent years has been on the potential role of cocoa flavanols in maintaining and improving cardiovascular and cognitive health. As an expert in the field, Dr. Kwik-Uribe has co-authored numerous papers and book chapters. Dr. Kwik-Uribe received her doctorate degree in human nutrition from the University of California, Davis and went on as a post‐doctoral fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz in the Department of Toxicology.
