The Challenge of Treating Obesity and Overweight: Learning What Works and Making it Happen—A Workshop
Treatment for overweight and obesity raise some big questions: What works? What’s emerging? Who delivers it? And who pays for it? OnApril 6th, 2017, the Roundtable on Obesity Solutions held a workshop to explore these questions.
The workshop featured invited presentations and discussions that explore what is known about current obesity treatment approaches and the challenges involved in implementing them, including their effectiveness (and how “success” is defined); payment for services; training of the workforce that provides the services; and health equity issues involved in treatment. The workshop agenda also addressed sustainable collaborations, new insights on implementing treatment-related interventions and policies, and research gaps in addressing treatment challenges. Participants discussed strategies that hold promise for progress in treating overweight and obesity.
The speakers' PowerPoint slides and video recordings of the proceedings are available here.
