Guiding Principles for Developing Dietary Reference Intakes Based on Chronic Disease - Report Release (Webinar)
An ad hoc committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (National Academies) will undertake a study to assess options presented in the document Options for Consideration of Chronic Disease Endpoints for Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs): Summary Report from a Joint US/Canadian-sponsored Expert Panel (hereafter Options Report) and determine guiding principles for the inclusion of chronic disease endpoints for food substances that will be used by future National Academies committees in establishing Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs). The committee shall provide justification for the selection (and non-selection) of options that served as the basis for the guiding principles, including additions not considered in the Options Report. On August 3, 2017, the National Academies will host a webinar on the report, The Development of Guiding Principles for the Inclusion of Chronic Disease Endpoints in Future Dietary Reference Intakes.
Shiriki Kumanyika, committee chair, and Janet C. King, Marian Neuhouser, and Joseph Rodricks from the expert committee that wrote the report will present highlights from the report and take questions about its findings and recommendations.
