Historic Exposure Reconstruction Model for Herbicides in Vietnam: Phase III

Type: Consensus Study
Topics: Environmental Health, Military and Veterans Health
Board: Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice

Activity Description

In response to recommendations in the IOM report Veterans and Agent Orange, the Department of Veterans Affairs informally requested the Institute of Medicine establish a committee to oversee the development and evaluation of models of herbicide exposure for use in studies of Vietnam veterans.

The phase III of this project provided administrative and scientific oversight of exposure assessment modeling research performed by a subcontractor in accordance with a previously developed Request for Proposals. The scientific oversight was accomplished by periodic review of written and oral presentations of research progress. The committee also reviewed the final report produced by the subcontractor performing the research.
