Michelle M. Washko, Ph.D., is the Deputy Director of the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis (NCHWA). The National Center, located within the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration, is responsible for providing health workforce information and data for the development of national and state policies. It is also the federal government focal point for the collection, analysis and dissemination of U.S. health workforce data. Dr. Washko came to NCHWA from the Administration for Community Living, where she advised on older adult employment and health workforce policies. Prior to joining HHS, she served in the U.S. Department of Labor developing and implementing employment initiatives for older workers. Before entering the Federal Government, she was a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for the Future of Aging Services, conducting applied research on the long-term care workforce. Dr. Washko holds a Ph.D. and a Masters degree in Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts, and a Masters degree in Individual & Family Studies from the University of Delaware.
