Katherine Hawthorne, Senior Program Assistant
Katherine Hawthorne (Kate), B.A., is a Senior Program Assistant with the Board on Health Care Services and the National Cancer Policy Forum (NCPF) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. This past May, Kate graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bryn Mawr College, where she majored in Anthropology and minored in Biology. Her undergraduate research focused on differing perceptions of traditional, complementary, and alternative medicine held by pre-med and non pre-med undergraduates. Kate has interned with the Honolulu Office of the Medical Examiner and with the MOTE Marine Laboratory and Aquarium’s Elizabeth Moore International Center for Coral Reef Research and Restoration. While at Bryn Mawr, she also served as a medical anthropology research assistant and as a tutor in statistics.
